Assessment Methods

For the Clinical component of the MB/PhD, the assessment methods are the same as those for the Standard Course.

For the research component all PhD students are required to complete a Personal Progress Log which serves as a record of transferable skills training.

At the end of year one, a report on progress is submitted to the Degree Committee for approval. The completed Personal Progress Log for year one must be submitted with the report.

At the end of each year, the Personal Progress Log is reviewed by the student’s supervisor. This log may be requested for inspection by the Degree Committee when considering the final dissertation.

The PhD thesis should be submitted before the return to clinical studies, ideally allowing five weeks for the organisation of the viva.
