Tom AldersonDr Tom Alderson - Assistant Director of General Practice Studies


Tom qualified from Oxford in 1986 and trained as a GP in Cambridge in the early 1990's. He worked for a time as a full-time Clinical Lecturer with Nigel Oswald on the Community Based Clinical Course and when this came to an end he took up a part time partnership locally. Tom now works part time in the GP Education Group whilst retaining his partnership. He helps to organise the Curriculum for the Clinical Students in particular having responsibility for the Seminar Teaching that we do and for the Stage 2 attachments that the students have with local General Practices. Tom has a Masters Degree in General Practice and is a GP Trainer. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators. Tom has a research interest in the role of anecdote in medical education.
