Dr Rachel Morris - Assistant Director of General Practice Studies, General Practice Education Group

Dr Rachel Morris is a clinician, facilitator and educationalist with a background in family medicine and medical education.

She did her undergraduate studies at the University of Nottingham before training as a General Practitioner in the East of England.

She works as a GP in a busy city centre practice whilst also working as an Assistant Director of GP Studies in the Primary Care Unit at the University of Cambridge where she is part of the General Practice Education Group who design, develop and deliver the primary care curriculum to undergraduate students.

Since 2012 she has designed and overseen the development of the Professionalism Course at the School of Clinical Medicine and is now the Professionalism Lead. This has involved pulling together and training clinicians from a wide range of specialities to deliver small group teaching and workshops around all areas related to medical Professionalism. As part of this work, she has developed particular expertise in reflective practice and how to teach self-awareness and has an ongoing interest in this area.

She is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators and has a Masters degree in Medical Education. She is also a tutor for the Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education course at the University of Cambridge Institute for Continuing Education

She has also worked as an Associate Lecturer for Homerton College of Health Sciences and as a Clinical Lecturer on the Refugee Doctors Programme at Barts and the Royal London, Queen Mary University London.

She has presented and facilitated workshops at national and international conferences about reflective practice, teaching in clinical practice and teaching self-awareness
