Mr Martin Atela - PhD Student
Martin joined the unit in October 2009 as a PhD student on a Gates scholarship. His research, under Dr. Simon Cohn, will investigate the potential of health system accountability mechanisms to improve the management and delivery primary care for TB/HIV and AIDS patients at the peripheral facility level in Kenya.
Prior to this, Martin obtained a honours degree in Political Science from Moi University, Kenya and then joined the Consortium for Research on Equitable Health Systems (CREHS) as an assistant research officer, health systems research. He then joined the University of Cambridge where he completed the MPhil in International Relations degree as a shell centenary scholar. In September 2009, Martin obtained a MSc Multiple degree in International Health from the University of Copenhagen, Queen Margaret University Edinburgh and Vrije University Amsterdam.
