The Clinical School Workshops are located in the Linear Accelerator Building adjacent to the Oncology Centre. It is staffed from 8am until 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am until 4pm Friday.
The main areas of works covered by our staff of skilled engineers; comprising of one Technical Officer, one Mechanical Engineer, one Electromechanical Engineer and one Building Services Engineer, are manufacture, repair and modification, certain aspects of servicing and general laboratory maintenance.
The Workshops are well equipped with all the modern machinery associated with this type of environment. All the lathes now have digital readouts incorporated in their systems and two of the milling machines are computer controlled, one of which is a state of the art X-Y axis CNC which includes CAD/CAM facilities.
This type of equipment has the added advantage of allowing the Workshops to extend their capabilities in the work they undertake particularly where the work involves very complicated shapes and sizes, etc.
