About Dr Abhishekh Ashok
I am an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Interventional Neuroradiology at the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. My research focuses on stroke and neurovascular care, with an emphasis on biomarkers, artificial intelligence, and clinical outcomes.
By bridging translational research and clinical practice, I aim to improve prognostic prediction, refine patient selection and treatment strategies, and enhance outcome evaluation in neurointerventional procedures.
My research centres on three core areas:
- Biomarkers for Outcome Prediction Following Endovascular Neurointervention – I investigate molecular predictors of outcome after stroke thrombectomy, using multiomic approaches and molecular imaging such as hyperpolarised 13C MRI.
- AI in Stroke Imaging – I lead projects evaluating commercial AI tools for large vessel occlusion detection, focusing on real-world performance, automation bias, and the challenges of NHS implementation.
- Clinical Outcome Studies – I conduct retrospective and multicentre studies on neurointerventional procedures, with the goal of improving clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Project/study information
I lead translational studies in biomarkers, imaging, and AI to improve decision-making and outcomes in stroke and neurointervention. Current projects span multiomic predictors of thrombectomy outcome, AI validation, and multicentre outcome studies.
