Before starting this role in January 2021, Ed was Head of the Department of Psychiatry from 2014, and started working in Cambridge in the late 20th century!

The School Finance Manager (SFM) provides key strategic and operational information and advice to the Head of School and Council of the School on financial matters and oversees the completion of the School’s 5 Year Plan. In addition, the SFM provides leadership to the School’s Accounts Team who complete financial processing work for all departments in the School and provide advice to Heads of Departments / Department staff as required. The SFM ensures that all financial activity is undertaken in accordance with the University’s Financial Regulations.

The Secretary of the Faculty Board leads the Faculty Office, and works closely with the Clinical Dean and the Secretary of the School on matters of educational policy and strategy. Faculty Board considers all educational aspects of the School’s business, covering undergraduates, graduates, and clinical trainees, and the Secretary of the Board provides leadership for the relevant administrative teams within the School, as well as advice to colleagues in Departments or Colleges.

The Head of General Division leads the General Division Office. I am responsible for the management of administrative functions and resources across the School of Clinical Medicine. In addition I have oversight of all departmental administration, including the overall management of all HR, Estates, Financial, Facilities and Strategic Planning matters at departmental level.

The Head of HR provides strategic and operational support to the Clinical School, advising and supporting change and longer term planning. The Head of HR also provides specialist employment law advice, and advises on the application of University processes. The Head of HR leads a small HR team which is based within the Clinical School. The team provides employee relations case support, HR management information, guidance on the application of HR policies and procedures, as well as some recruitment services. The HR team at the Clinical School is also responsible for some HR administrative processes.

The Research Initiatives Manager provides senior support to the Regius’ Office. I am responsible for four main pillars of activity: (a) driving research excellence, impact and knowledge exchange for the School, (b) maintaining, growing, and sharing critical school infrastructure and equipment, (c) supporting, developing, and delivering School strategy and, (d) coordinating large, multi-partner, cross-boundary, research funding applications, targeting bids involving NHS and industry partners, with the goal of maximizing these relationships for the future benefit of the wider regional health economy.
