About Dr Ana Luisa Toribio
I am Head of the Stratified Medicine Core Laboratory (SMCL NGS Hub) within the Department of Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge, a research facility where I lead the development and delivery of advanced genomics and multi-omics capabilities across the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and beyond.
My work centres on enabling high-quality, translational research by integrating cutting-edge sequencing technologies with robust experimental design and data generation strategies. I collaborate closely with clinicians, researchers and industry partners to support studies spanning discovery science to clinical applications.
I have a particular interest in building sustainable, high-performing research infrastructure, ensuring that complex technologies are implemented with scientific rigour, operational excellence and full traceability. Through SMCL, I contribute to the development of integrated multi-omics approaches that underpin precision medicine initiatives.
Alongside this, I am committed to supporting and mentoring students, young people and innovators, and to fostering collaborative environments that enable ideas to develop into impactful solutions.
I welcome discussions on new projects and opportunities for collaboration.
Project/study information
I build genomics and multi-omics workflows that turn complex biological questions into high-quality, usable data—supporting projects from discovery to clinic. I’m always open to new ideas and collaborations, and enjoy building solutions without limits.
