Mr Adel Helmy, University Lecturer Neurosurgery (Department of Clinical Neurosciences), has been awarded the Royal College of Surgeons of England Hunterian Professorship 2017 for his work on Neuroinflammation following Traumatic Brain Injury.
Mr Helmy delivered a plenary lecture at the Society of British Neurological Surgeons meeting in Oxford describing his work on recovering cytokines and chemokines from the human traumatic brain injury patients using cerebral microdialysis, and the utilisation of novel immunomodulatory agents as putative neuroprotective agents. He was also awarded the Hunterian Medal following his talk.
