Congratulations to Dr’s Jonathan Silverman (Medicine) and Juliet Draper (PHPC) who together with Professor Suzanne Kurtz (Washington State University) have been awarded the 14th annual Lynn Payer award “for outstanding contributions to the literature on the theory, practice and teaching of effective health care communication and related skills.”
They developed the Calgary-Cambridge approach to teaching and learning communication skills in medicine. This approach is now the basis for the communication curriculum for clinical medical and veterinary schools, and many postgraduate departments of general practice not only in the UK but in medical schools all over the world.
