Dear student,
I am sure you will soon be starting to think about your accommodation arrangements for next year so I thought it would be helpful to give you as much information as I can at this stage about how your hospital placements will work in Year 6.
We will be starting work on individual student schedules (2020/21 academic year) shortly. There are some principles that we will work to in order to fix your Year 6 schedules and these are outlined below. Hopefully this information will help you to some extent with planning for accommodation purposes and your other commitments for Year 6.
We are aiming for you to stay on the same vertical rotation you are currently in for Year 5. The Year 6 core timetable shows the rotations; you can see for example that if you are currently in Year 5 rotation C your last block will be Maternal Health, therefore your first block in Year 6 will be Senior Rotation Medicine. Please find the Year 5 2019 -20 Year 5 and the Year 6 2020-21 Year 6 core timetables attached.
- Your allocated hospital will change in Year 6 in order to provide a variety of hospital based experiences.
- We will aim to give every student one senior block in either medicine, surgery or acute care in Addenbrookes/Papworth during year 6.
- GP Placements – dates for these are known (see the Year 6 core timetable). You will be asked if you would prefer to in Cambridge for your placements in Year 6 and the GPEG team will do their best to accommodate any requests they receive. You will be contacted directly by the GPEG team about this, but in the meantime if you would like to flag any such requests please email Julia Skinner at js10049@medschl.cam.ac.uk
Please complete the questions in the form below by March 3rd below giving specific information such as welfare requests which will help us in the process of scheduling . It is important that you complete this even if your answers to all of the questions are ‘no’ so that we have a full picture of requirements across your year group.
If you have any questions about the above information please contact the Year 6 Administrator Stacey at: Year6Admin@medschl.cam.ac.uk
