About Professor Krishna Chatterjee
I am a Principal Investigator and Professor of Endocrinology at the Institute of Metabolic Science-Metabolic Research Laboratories and Department of Medicine; I am Director of the NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility and Director of the PhD for Health Professionals Programme Cambridge & East Anglia.
Project/study information
Our principal research interests are in genetic and molecular endocrinology, including disorders of nuclear hormone synthesis and action, with a particular interest in Resistance to Thyroid Hormone due to defective thyroid hormone receptor beta or alpha.
We also operate an internationally renowned service for diagnosis and management of rare thyroid disorders, and undertake research to develop biomarkers of hormone action and trial therapies that may also be applicable to commoner forms of thyroid dysfunction or other metabolic disorders.
Recruitment of postgraduate students and research staff
Training graduate students for a scientific career is a priority at the IMS-MRL. We have a mixture of both basic science students and clinical trainees and aim to provide everyone with a supportive, stimulating research and learning environment. We offer Funded PhD programmes, a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry and a full-time taught MPhil in Obesity, Endocrinology & Metabolism.
