MPhil in Precision Medical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence (PREMIA)
Explore how medical imaging and artificial intelligence are shaping the future of healthcare through this one-year taught Master of Philosophy (MPhil) at the University of Cambridge.
The PREMIA programme combines the science behind medical imaging with the latest advances in artificial intelligence, giving you the knowledge and practical skills to analyse, interpret and improve medical imaging data. Alongside taught modules, you'll complete an independent research project during the Easter Term.
What you'll study
You'll develop an understanding of:
- medical imaging technologies, including MRI, CT, PET, SPECT and ultrasound
- imaging physics and mathematics
- image reconstruction and analysis
- machine learning and artificial intelligence for medical imaging
- data analysis and statistical methods
- deploying AI safely and responsibly in clinical settings.
What you'll gain
By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
- understand the principles behind modern medical imaging technologies
- analyse and interpret medical imaging data
- apply AI and machine learning techniques to imaging challenges
- evaluate imaging methods using statistical approaches
- understand the ethical and regulatory considerations of AI in healthcare
- undertake independent research addressing real-world medical imaging challenges.
Careers
Graduates will be well prepared for careers in academic research, the healthcare and medical technology industries, clinical research, and regulatory or innovation roles involving medical imaging and artificial intelligence.
