The Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre (WBIC) were proud to welcome the delivery of a new (17.5 tonne!) 7T MRI Scanner.
The new ultra high field “7T” magnet makes Cambridge the most comprehensive imaging centre in Europe, complementing strengths in high field MRI (“3T”), MEG, EEG, PET and other methods, each with world-class expertise in harnessing the technology for patient-centred research.
Although much of the work of the new scanner will address the challenges of dementia, there is a very broad-based neuroscience research community across the whole university who will use this remarkable new facility: from mental health, consciousness, autism, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, addiction, brain development and ageing through to fundamental scientific discoveries about how the brain works.
It has been a great team effort to deliver the new scanner on time and on-budget, click here to see a video of the MRI arriving!
