Peter Jones has been appointed as the new Deputy Head of the Clinical School after serving for fourteen years as Head of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge. In an interview about his new appointment, Peter explains what it was that prompted his change of role, and what his ambitions are for the Clinical School.
“There are exciting things going on in the Clinical School, and for Cambridge; the development of the Biomedical Campus, for one. The decision by AZ, a leading international, pharmaceutical company to move its R&D operation and global headquarters here, joining GSK’s existing investments, will have a major impact not only on the campus but on the Cambridge region.
Increasing numbers of clinical students, the knock-on effects of campus development and scientific growth in parallel with inevitable changes in NHS services mean we shall be working in a very different and stimulating environment within a decade.”
