The University policy on “The Ethics of Research involving Human Participation and Personal Data” can be found here.
All research projects at the Clinical School involving human participants require a favourable ethics review
Most research at the Clinical School involves patients, their tissue or data and will require a favourable ethics opinion from the National Research Ethics Service (NRES). The link below will take you to the Health Research Authority website where information can be found about applying for NRES ethics approval
Review by the National Research Ethics Service is required by law in certain situations:
Research involving drug intervention or children using the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre currently require NRES ethics approval whatever the status of the participant
Unless a condition of grant funding all other research can be reviewed by internal University research ethics committees
Information about these committees can be found at http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/rso/ethics/recs/
