About Professor Susan Ozanne
I am a Principal Investigator, Professor of Developmental Endocrinology and Director at the Institute of Metabolic Science-Metabolic Research Laboratories. I am also the Head of Department of Clinical Biochemistry.
Project/study information
Our research aims to understand the mechanisms by which sub-optimal early life nutrition impacts on risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and premature death. We use our mechanistic understanding to define the most appropriate interventions during obese and diabetic pregnancy for maximum short- and long-term benefit to mother and child.
Recruitment of postgraduate students and research staff
Training graduate students for a scientific career is a priority at the IMS-MRL. We have a mixture of both basic science students and clinical trainees and aim to provide everyone with a supportive, inclusive, stimulating research and learning environment. We offer Funded PhD programmes, a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry and a full-time taught MPhil in Obesity, Endocrinology & Metabolism.
