Doctoral Training Programme in Medical Research (DTP-MR)
We are offering at least ten fully funded four-year PhD studentships commencing in October 2026.
Studentships must be based in the School of Clinical Medicine and fall under one of the following research themes.
- Data Science for Health
- Infections and Immunity
- Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Disease
- Neurosciences and Mental Health
The programme is structured as 0.5 + 3.5, and in the first 6 months students will undertake two 3-month rotations projects in different laboratories.
These projects will be in different disciplinary areas related to your field of research and will allow refinement of your PhD project in line with your emerging research interests as the programme progresses.
Departments put forward their nominated applicants for consideration for DTPMR funding in February and if you are nominated and shortlisted you will be called to a further DTPMR funding interview in March. Prospective applicants should contact Departments and Supervisors in the first instance.
All available DTPMR projects are listed here
As we approach the opening of applications, we invite you to check out this video where our Course Director, Guy Williams, answers some of the most frequently asked questions about the DTP in MR program.
