We offer a training and development pathway for mid-career research fellows. This supports your development as an independent researcher, leader, and further developing as a Principal Investigator (PI).
Qualifications
To qualify, you must have:
- completed one substantial period of postdoctoral research
- been awarded significant mid-career fellowships of 5 years or more that supports both yourself and at least one other team member
What we offer
You will be supported by:
- pre-arrival agreement and discussions
- mentoring
- training (covering the key aspects of being a PI, people management, teaching, commercialisation and research culture)
- bi-annual progress review meetings
Mid-Career Fellows Network
The Mid-Career Fellows Network is a peer support network of over 100 members at the School of Clinical Medicine. The Network works closely with the School of Biological Sciences Early PI Network. Training events will often be run in tandem with the Framework and the Network.

EMBO Lab leadership
In collaboration with the Early PI network the mid-career network, our members can take part in the world-leading EMBO Lab Leadership course.
This course is funded by the School of Clinical Medicine and the School of Biological Sciences.
