MPhil in Translational Medical Research
The MPhil in Translational Medical Research is a 10-month full-time programme provided by the Department of Medicine. Tailored for the next generation of scientists and practitioners in Translational Medicine, the course will provide an exceptional hands-on experience in state-of-the-art research complemented with a strong foundation of lectures, practical courses, literature reviews and transferable skills workshops.
Students will undertake a 32-week research project in a host laboratory. In parallel, they will receive taught elements in various formats including lectures, small group teaching, and practical sessions.
Research and teaching will broadly cover most key areas of research excellence of the Department of Medicine:
- Translational immunology
- Pandemic preparedness
- Cardiovascular and respiratory research
- Acute and emergency care
Students will receive core training in transferable skills; patient and public involvement, engagement and participation in research; and interfacing with the pharmaceutical industry.
The course is designed to equip students for a broad range of further study or careers in biomedical research or science policy in academia, industry, or government settings.
