About Geoff Woods
I am an academic Clinical Geneticist, now Emeritus. My research enthusiasms are twofold. Firstly, clinical defining phenotypes and diagnostic criteria of genetic diseases, particularly of brain size/microcephaly, itch, and disorders of pain and painlessness. Secondly, molecular genetics, generating new ways to define and find genetic influences on Mendelian disorders, identifying Mendelian genes and clinically significant variants, and defining gene and variant function. Nearly all my research is collaborative and I current lead the UKRI ADAVNTAGE consortium studying visceral pain.
