About Professor James Rowe
As the Cambridge University Professor of Cognitive Neurology, I study the mechanisms and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Frontotemporal dementias, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, and related disorders. I trained in medical sciences and experimental psychology at Cambridge, before clinical training in Oxford and my PhD at UCL, London. After specialist Neurology training in London and Copenhagen, I returned to Cambridge where I now lead the Dementia theme of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, and the Cambridge Centre for Frontotemporal Dementia. I am Associate Director of Dementias Platform UK, leading the experimental medicine program, and Chief Scientific Adviser to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Project/study information
My work brings together deep-phenotyping, brain imaging and biomarkers, genetics and epidemiology, pharmacology and cognitive neurosciences to understand the mechanisms of disease and individual differences, as the pathway to new treatments.
Recruitment of PhD / Post doctoral students
My team brings together a range of brilliant PhD students, post doctoral scientists, neurologists and psychiatrists in training, engineers, computer scientists, research nurses, and project managers, from over 16 countries. We recruit via jobs.ac.uk, professional societies and special interest groups.
