About Dr Tristan Barrett
Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary NHS Consultant Radiologist.
My main clinical research interest is in prostate cancer, with a particular interest in multi-parametric MRI techniques for identifying and characterising prostate tumours.
I am the local clinical lead for uroradiology and was appointed as the director of the Cambridge Radiology Department’s academic programme in August 2019, which includes oversight of the ACF and ACL programmes. I have recently been awarded the 2022 Nicholas Gourtsoyiannis Teaching Fellowship from the European School of Radiology and served as the RCR Roentgen Professor of Radiology for 2022-23. I am the current Chair of the British Society of Urogenital Radiology, an RCR-affiliated special interest group.
Project/study information
My research centres on imaging in prostate cancer, with three broad themes relating to novel MRI sequences, “X-nuclei” (non-proton) MRI, and the use of artificial intelligence techniques. The MRI strands incorporate collaborations with University of California San Diego (Oncology: Tyler Seibert) and University College London (Radiology), and AI research has included collaborations with Radboud University, Netherlands (Radiology), Lucida Medical, UCL (Mathematics), and Queen Mary University London (Engineering).
