Unveiling the Molecular Dynamics of Adaptor Protein Complex 3: A Multidisciplinary Exploration into Cellular Mechanisms and Disease Implications

Summary

This project targets a detailed understanding of the adaptor protein complex 3 (AP3) and its interactions across human cells, leveraging a multidisciplinary approach that combines cell biology, genetic manipulation, and advanced structural biology techniques.

Project aims

By employing cryo-electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography, the project aims to elucidate the atomic structures of AP3 in complex with its binding partners, providing insights into its functional mechanisms.

Genetic editing tools will be used to dissect AP3's roles in cellular processes, complemented by biochemical and biophysical analyses to understand protein-protein interactions.

This integrative strategy is designed to uncover the molecular basis of AP3's involvement in cellular sorting and its implications for diseases linked to lysosomal dysfunction, aiming for a comprehensive understanding that could inform therapeutic development.
